Seems to me that permaculture is a perfect idea but wondering how it plays out when starting something up. I inherited a small plot of land from my family and there is not any source of mulch on that property itself. It would take a long time to build that up if I was to grow a few seasons worth of green manure.
Should I bring in a lot of material from somewhere nearby and get things started that way?
It always costs to start something and get momentum. I wonder about different theories as to whether a person should be a purist and only use local products or whether it makes sense to bring in a ton of outside materials until the farm gets going. Once it gets going and can produce its own closed cycle loop.
